Gondola Ride…

“Venice never quite seems real, but rather an ornate film set suspended on the water.” – unknown

You can never travel to Venice and not go on a gondola ride. It may be very “touristy” or maybe too expensive…but a gondola ride is quintessential to Venice. Some people in our tour group didn’t want to go but for my hubby and I, this was a once in a lifetime experience. We may not be able to come back to this place again so why not splurge a little.

Just a tiny bit disappointed that our gondolier wasn’t wearing the traditional striped shirt and hat and scarf.

Another disappointment or maybe it was just I, over expecting… but our gondolier didn’t sing for us. However, lucky that a couple from our tour just got married, so they had a gondolier singing for them. It was loud enough for all of us to hear. BRAVO 🎼🎼🎼When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore. 👏👏👏

This is the Grand Canal which is the main waterway of Venice.

Come with us, as we venture along the narrow waterways of Venice on board a gondola…seeing one of the most beautiful city in the world in water level.

From where we were seated, one must look up to see its majestic beauty… with its crumbling walls, its louvre wooden windows and its colourful flowers on porches.

Nice to see the city from water level, although like the others in your group we passed on a gondola ride as we were on a tight budget when we visited Venice, many years ago. It might be a different story now, although it does also seem a bit too touristy! But somethings are touristy for a reason 😆

The rich color and detail, the light and the shadow, all just take my breath away. What a city, and the water just flows through the heart of everything!
