“He who is outside his door has the hardest part of his journey behind him.” – Dutch proverb
I am sharing this as part of Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge
The Palais des Papes or the Palace of the Popes is the most important building built during the Gothic period. I am featuring the doors for now, but to know more about the Palace of the Popes (please click here), to see some of the streets around Avignon (please click here).
Here are some entry doors, private apartment doors of the Popes, metal doors, arched entries. Discover the Palace as well as the town of Avignon in images.

Hubby and I strolled around to see more of the streets around the town. At times we walked together with some of the members of our tour group, but as you may know, walking with a big group is not at all fun. haha
We saw some of the old buildings as we strolled on our own.
The cobblestone streets of Avignon were bustling with activity. It is such a picture perfect town with shops, restaurants and cafes all around the town square.
We sat down in one of the cafes for lunch and enjoyed sipping on our favourite drink as we relaxed and watched the people go by … we just loved it!
